Sindel is horrified by the sights in Shang Tsung’s lab, and her shock deepens when Liu Kang reveals his past as the Keeper of Time and the creator of everything. To prove his words, he summons Geras, who shows Sindel glimpses of her past lives across different timelines. In awe, Sindel asks why Liu Kang gave up his immense power and chose not to seek reverence. He explains that he relinquished his authority because he knew keeping it would lead to the same downfall as Kronika. Liu Kang insists that he wasn’t divine; he was simply the Keeper of Time by circumstance, not by choice.
Their conversation is cut short by the arrival of General Shao and his forces, who wield the Amulet of Shinnok. Despite Liu Kang’s warnings, Shao uses the amulet to trap Mileena, Kitana, Tanya, and Geras within it before turning on Sindel, Li Mei, and Liu Kang. In a fierce battle, Sindel defeats Nitara, Reiko, and Rain before finally overcoming Shao. Liu Kang seizes the amulet, freeing Geras, Tanya, and the princesses. He then turns to Sindel and asks for her help in saving Earthrealm. When she questions whether this is a command from a creator, Liu Kang responds that it is the request of a friend.
