The united forces of Outworld and Earthrealm march toward the Deadly Alliance’s fortress, working together to neutralize the enemy and shut down the soul stealers. Ermac appears and defeats Tanya, breaking her ribs, only to be taken down by Mileena, who, in doing so, causes King Jerrod to take control of Ermac. Jerrod is reunited with his family, and once again, he joins Liu Kang in their fight. Mileena offers to act as a diversion for the group, allowing them to infiltrate further into the fortress. She pretends to defect to the Deadly Alliance’s side, but once in position, she signals her allies to attack.
The team defeats Shang Tsung and demands to know the identity of his mysterious benefactor. The sorcerer confidently reveals his ally as “Damashi.” To everyone’s shock, the person who appears is none other than an alternate version of Shang Tsung—one that was believed to have been defeated by Liu Kang in the battle for the Hourglass.
This alternate Shang, now calling himself Titan Shang Tsung, explains that their previous battle tore time apart, creating twin timelines—one where Liu Kang emerged victorious and another where he did not. Realizing the implications of the other timeline, Titan Shang Tsung sought to destroy everything within it and merge both worlds into his own. Betrayed and realizing they were mere pawns, the Deadly Alliance turns against Titan Shang Tsung, who summons his dark minions—doppelgangers from the alternate timeline. Mileena defeats Dark Raiden, and several other warriors battle Dark Sindel, only to be defeated by her overwhelming power.
Empress Sindel faces off with her dark counterpart, gaining the upper hand at first, but Dark Sindel manages to reclaim her weapon using her hair and fatally impales the Empress. In a fit of rage, Mileena defeats her dark mother but needs Tanya’s serum to prevent her transformation. As Sindel dies, she expresses gratitude for the time she had with Jerrod and names Mileena the new Empress of Outworld. Ermac uses his magic to absorb Sindel’s soul, uniting her with Jerrod in the afterlife.
With the Dragon Army awakening, Liu Kang orders his allies to retreat into the hills surrounding the fortress, where they witness the army begin its invasion. They realize the army will need a nexus of portals to conquer the realms, and they begin planning to stop it. Meanwhile, Shang Tsung, realizing they are overmatched, suggests that Titan Shang might be wrong about there being only two timelines—perhaps there are more. Geras agrees this is possible, but only a Keeper of Time could search for more timelines. When Liu Kang reminds Geras that he relinquished his power, Geras reveals he may have hidden a way for Liu Kang to reclaim it. Fearing the Fire God would need the power of a Titan, Geras had kept it hidden, preventing its dissipating.
Liu Kang thanks Geras for his wisdom, realizing it could be their key to survival. Elsewhere, Dark Geras reports to Titan Shang Tsung, warning him that Liu Kang is proving more resilient than expected. Furious, Titan Shang Tsung orders Dark Geras to find Liu Kang, for he alone poses the true threat to their plans.
